He didn't say he was having any problems, so I didn't even think about this. But you're right -- it *could*.
When you're training hard, it's far better to up your electrolyte intake. You need to replace as much water as you lose through sweating.
Your body wants as much water as you can give it while you're going hard like that, unless you're that chick who died from drinking water in that Wee for a Wii contest a few years back.
