Not too long ago I had a 23 year old tell me she deserved "better" and "more" after no contact for a few weeks. Turned out this was no more than a week after her getting arrested for fighting with a family member, while intoxicated, in public and spending a week in two rivers.

Personally, I blame the massive explosion in the romantic comedy film industry in the last 15 years. Dozens of films all with basically the same plot, with an incredibly handsome and successful guy marrying some girl who is ****ed up or has some kind of issues and oh he looks past it all bla bla bla bla.
Not to mention The Bachelorette.
