There's such a thing as NEGATIVE brand recognition, and this is a textbook example. It's one thing if you pay a network/league to arrange to have the announcers say "And now the offense has entered the red zone, brought to you by Toyota." But putting it on the field is just going to piss people off and create a distaste for your brand and your advertising, no matter where it appears from then on.

I lost the KFC account(local coupons) due to corporate raising franchise advertising fees to help sponsor Thursday Night Football on NFL Network a couple of years ago.
So there I am watching the pregame and the Colonel's face is on both sides of the panel,go to commercial and the KFC ad is for a weekend special not even valid on Thursdays.
