I'm not white knighting him at all, but some people care a lot more about chemistry than looks... maybe she stuck by this guy when he was a shit eating nobody and he loves her to death for it.

Hugh does musicals, so who knows maybe he IS gay lol... but yeah, I reeeally doubt he's gay, I bet he's just a real man with honest tastes.
