Or is he strictly a special teamer. Not that that is bad. 49ers gave up a punt return to Sproles for a TD last week, so we are vulnerable to a great return man if that is all DAT is.
What is the scoop here? Why you guys hoping for him to play?

No one is entirely sure yet. None of us would have predicted that McKnight would have even seen any snaps on offense against the Dolphins, but he did and ended up with 2 receiving TDs. I could easily see the same thing happening with DAT. Reid will probably have 4-5 plays drawn in the game plan especially for him early on. He'll probably get a quick bubble screen and a shot down field.
