I really can't stand the term "game manager."
Conservative QBs shouldn't get lumped in with game managers.
It's this simple... if you consistently convert on third downs, rise to the occasion in the second half even if your defense falters, and play like nails late in close games... game manager. If you don't do any of those things, how the hell is that game management? Game managers are a great thing but only if we stop making it a catch-all for QBs who don't get the job done.
I am seeing Smith as more and more of a game manager this season. But I'm not sold on him being a good one until he more consistently closes games. His third down efficiency this year, however, has been an extremely welcome development.
