I live in DC and went up to Camden Yards the first couple of years we were here to watch the Royals. That was back in the 05-07 years when the Royals were particularly horrible. And their fans were rude, obnoxious and profane.
Once, my wife took the kids to a game without me, and some guys actually followed them out to the car after the game, shouting at them the whole time. As I recall, that was a meaningless game in September when both teams were a million games under .500.
I've never experienced anything like that at an opposing ballpark, and we've gone to games all over the east coast. Most fans treat us like an anomaly - "Wow, there are actually Royals fans?" But in the few times I've gone to Camden Yards, they were a pretty brutal bunch. Won't set foot in that place again.

And to the Royals: it will take a lot more than this to break my fandom. I wish I knew how to quit you. But I don’t.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of season. This was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of team. Sports are pain. And then, suddenly, they are perfection.
