Espn does use the b1g for ratings. But it's usually jabbing at the big 10 which actually helps them get b1g ratings in a backhanded way.
Love for ratings is still love. The B10 brings ratings. ESPN loves the B10 for the ratings they bring. Argue all you want, but it is truth.
