Hell, let those leagues set aside $X millions a year to create a pool to pay college players if you want to go that route. You're basically asking colleges to do all of the training, coaching, player development, etc. for these professional leagues...at no cost to the NBA and NFL...and still have to pay the players on top of it.
Why does the NCAA catch all the heat when it's the professional leagues that want to eat their cake and have it too?

It's a fair point.
But putting the NFL piece aside, if that's the environment, then the ncaa has a responsibility to work fairly within that system too. Before there were child labor laws, sure businesses were operating within the system, but it didn't justify child exploitation.
Not to say this is anything close to the same. The ncaas mission is a good one, except that we all know there is an unbelievable amount of crookedness in how they operate. If we felt the money was being pumped back into education or the schools, that would be one thing. If we felt the rules were consistently enforced, that would be another. The current system as is encourages cheating, it fosters corruption, and leads to a bunch of people exploiting free use of someone's name to line their own pockets. I don't support schools paying players. I am just glad the ncaa is being called out for their ridiculously broken practices that are so heavily stacked against the athlete. Create a fairer system. That's all.
