A lot of these kids are poor and are being asked to pay for food, basic living expenses while being denied any chance at an income. Free room and board is nice. Free education is nice but it means something totally different to a kid with a lousy high school education at a world class institution who probably doesn't even understand what's going on. And if education were truly the main objective, then we wouldn't have rigorous practice and travel schedules. We wouldn't force these kids to attend media days, charity events, etc... All for someone else to make money off of their name.

Again, I agree with the mission of the ncaa. I hate how off mission they've become and these silly rules about player benefits needs to change. If a kid can make some extra money not from the school, let them.
