There are levels of cheating that the public will accept. Pitchers want to put something on the ball, steal some public signs, watch the other teams practice, under inflate some balls. But, you bet on the game, bribe officials they will run you out of town on a rail.

Baseball is a poor example. When Michael Pineda got caught doctoring the ball with pine tar, he got ejected and suspended. You know, because the MLB actually punishes cheaters now instead of sweeping it under the rug like Goodell does.
