The downside of baseball for the casual fan is that it's a very subtle game, and if you don't follow it closely day to day, it's hard to miss things. It's easy to yell at a manager for not bringing in a reliever or for not bringing the pitcher back out when he's been dealing and is only at 95 pitches if you don't know that the reliever just pitched the last two days or that the starter threw 125 pitches his last outing.
Steroids sucked, not because of the "cheating" aspect, but because it took the strategy out of the game and turned it into a contest to see who could bash it over the wall the most.

I believe I get the jist but be honest: if we had the guys bashing the HR we'd have liked it quite a bit. Did you enjoy the two HR last night by Hoz & Cain?
