Clark Hunt approaches his quest for KC to host a Super Bowl like he does for his franchise to build towards playing in a Super Bowl apparently… which is half-assed.
Obviously the rolling roof concept is going to be one of the big first steps towards KC having a legit chance at hosting the Super Bowl.
The price tag in 2006 that voters rejected to build the rolling roof was about $170 million.
If the Hunt family would have paid for that cost entirely, combined with the about $100 million they put towards the rest of the Arrowhead renovations… that still would have been about HALF of what Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is paying (i.e. $400 million) for renovations to Sun Life Stadium… with the main goal of upgrading the stadium so it meets the NFL's criteria to host a future Super Bowl (after Miami hosted their last Super Bowl in 2010, the NFL said they would not return with the Super Bowl unless the city performed extensive renovations on Sun Life Stadium).
Other than giving up a home game to play in London (which affects the fans/players more than the Hunt family directly)… what is Clark Hunt willing to pay personally to get the Super Bowl in KC?
