Everybody can say Pinkel and the coaches are these great coaches who coach guys up and that stars don't matter, but with the current type of recruits we're getting we're going to keep getting to the championship game and will continue to get stomped by the likes of Auburn and Alabama (or Texas and Oklahoma when we were in the Big 12).
I also don't understand why, in what I believe is supposed to be a smaller class this year, we're already filling it up with a bunch of really average players.

I understand the strategy from this point: the state has a dearth of high-level talent this year. Thus, if you can secure a solid-ish class early, you can focus more resources on the guys who would be better gets.
Basically, "a bird in hand" philosophy. If you go all-in on guys that are lower percentage plays, then you run the risk of having a Kim Anderson recruiting class.
