I guess I'll just roll with this now being a thread about hipsters...
Ironically, I think most of those clubs you mention are filled with people who want to be hipsters, or at least want to copy their tastes. The key to a hipster, IMO, is seeking out undiscovered art, music, and fashion and embracing it with a sense of superiority over the uninitiated. But, the necessary next step is when that piece of art, music, or fashion become mainstream, the hipster must move on to something newer and more obscure so the superiority can be maintained. I've known some true hipsters and their life seems exhausting.
