McCluster is a role player. They obviously planned to use him as a gadget guy. That team had tons of holes that needed to be filled. There are plenty of guys listed in that second round that could have been key starters, even still today. That's all he was saying, and I agree with him. They were going for dessert without perfecting the main course.
This is the main issue with me. DMC performed fine for the type of player he is... a gadget. It's no surprise he's not great at any one thing. But the Chiefs needed starters. Every down type players, not 25 snaps per game type players.

Draft g gadgets is just bad practice in general. At best their impact is pretty small, they're never worth a 2nd contract. Name 5 gadget players that had a big impact in the league. Hell, name 1. Sproles maybe? And has any team ever signed him to a 2nd contract?
