IMO - well groomed facial hair shows more of an effort in overall grooming than a straight shave. It cites a male's maturity, and thus, can invoke a sense of authority and responsibility.
A full beard on a young guy is difficult to pull off since it might lead one to believe you're too lazy to shave, but, if it looks like you've put effort into it's appearance, you should keep it.
