Fisher would be wise to do the same. He's a young, ascending player hampered by injuries and playing out of position. Left tackles are at a premium in the NFL and he'd be a fool to accept some dopey low balled contract.

Houston and Hudson played their contract out because they knew the Chiefs wouldn't cut them. Because they were practically playing for free.
Fisher doesn't have that leverage. He knows the Chiefs don't want to pay him $10M. The Chiefs can cut him next year and he's on the streets looking for a new contract. Fisher doesn't want that. The chiefs would prefer not to do that. The best thing for both sides is for the Chiefs to slightly overpay the market.
