My position is more along the lines of "Believe women, nonbinary persons, and persons of color at first, because society has been set up to de-legitimize them." Healthy skepticism of claims is good, but when that skepticism's first impulse is erasure, well, it becomes unhealthy. I assume they are being truthful, and so be it if they aren't. But I think we move forward by believing people. Especially when for every notable example you have of people buying into a lie or fabrication or misunderstanding or hoax, there are hundreds & hundreds more that are very true.
I also hesitate to put the social media postings of people who are in literal fear for their lives on the same standing as someone posting from a position of safety. I think its fair to criticize Head somewhat as a leader for his eagerness to pass along incorrect information last night, but I'm going to choose to have empathy for someone feeling afraid during a death threat situation. I guess you don't have that empathy because you assume that black activists posted the YikYak threats as a false flag or whatever.
