As a player he possesses a well rounded skill-set that makes him a useful ballplayer on any team. You're advocating for a contract that would make him the cornerstone player of a contender.

He ain't that and unless he completely re-works his swing, he never will be.

Just staring googly eyed at pretty WAR numbers isn't going to get you very far. He racks up DWAR playing a secondary defensive position. He doesn't produce runs and his contributions on offense are both erratic and generally able to be neutralized given a fairly easy plan (pitch him in).

He's not 'brilliant'. He's not a superstar. And if you want to give all glory to WAR here, he's not even as good as Kevin Kiermaier. He's just a nice ballplayer that's about to be grossly overpaid.

So basically the only thing he has over Gordon is age? Is that really worth $100mil extra?
