It really isn't.

I'd gladly give them $50/month for ESPN/2, NBC Sports, NHLN, MLBN, FSN, Fox Sports 1, CBS, ABC, Fox, NBC, all those dumb channels for March Madness, and maybe a couple others. Last night I was thinking about Sling TV, but that doesn't quite do it.

This is my point exactly, and why the BMW is a perfect analogy.
You think it's too expensive. You think the cost shouldn't go up. You think it should be a la carte, and you shouldn't have to pay for that expensive engine or seats or handling. You just want the BMW logo.
You're ignoring that the cable conglomerates make a shit ton of money off those channels that YOU will "never watch."
But other people do. And they make money off of those people. Like how the CORPORATE SPONSORS know that they will reach a wider audience, so advertising with KU becomes more valuable, which helps the university attract richer sponsors and sign them to better deals.
And shit, man, the deal might be bad for some of you. It might be bad, period. But constantly bitching about it when there are numerous, easy solutions is just annoying as ****.
