There's always risk, but it's not like catchers always fall off a cliff either. Molina's best seasons were in that 29-30 range. Perez is only 25 years old. They just signed a 25 year old multiple Gold Glove catcher to a a 6 year deal that is $30 million less than what guys like McCann and Martin got. I get they already had him under contract, and he definitely needs to rest more.... but people are talking like he's going to be a 1B at 28. He's probably the toughest guy on the team, and his value to this team will be extremely difficult to replace too.

Yeah, a lot of Royals internet fans are being dumb about this.
They're the same type of folks who keep insisting that the Royals need to trade Hosmer after this season for prospects and restock the farm rather.
