Although in most cases bittersweet, I love this time of year. Only 1 team can win it all, and 1 bad game can end a really good season. Other than watching Chiefs games/NFL playoffs etc this is my favorite sports event, more so than college football. This conference hasn't been great in the NCAA tournament outside of KU. They get 6-7 teams in usually, but most are out of it after the first weekend and outside of KU, no one makes it to the Final Four. Who was the last team other than KU to make a Final Four, Texas in early 2000's ??? I also think Barnes had a few elite 8's under his watch. Other than that, the league hasn't fared well in the big dance. We're going to find out really soon whether the Big12 is a legit league or if it's another paper tiger. KU's had some good competition to get themselves ready to go up against anyone in the dance. Michigan St, Kentucky, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Iowa St have all been top 10 teams at some point in the season. They've played close games and have generally closed them out as the winner and I think that can help in terms of experience...but you also can't really do anything about a team that won't miss, which KU has been a victim of before and it can happen at any point in the dance. Guess we're going to see. It does help that KU will get the overall #1 seed so they get to play close to home.
