No. At first it was about NFL types sticking it to the Patriots, whom they hate, backed by owners who either hate them or thought something fishy was going on (or both). Ultimately, however, it was nothing more than another chapter in the endless power struggle between the NFL and the NFLPA.

At the end, it was about nothing more than the NFL's need to reaffirm Goodell's completely unlimited authority. Authority the NFLPA stupidly gave him, and which will be the central issue in the strike/lockout that will come in 2021.
