He was the #3 pick in the draft in 2009, completely out of the blue. He was projected to be a late first-rounder, but the Chiefs took him 20 spots ahead of where he was projected.
In fairness, Chiefsplanet was equally split between drafting LB Aaron Curry and QB Mark Sanchez. I was in the Eugene Monroe camp, so maybe Pioli really is smarter than us.
