Damn glad I got the color correction and sealant on the paint before I even drove the car. Drove it straight from the dealers off the truck with rail dust etc on it to get it done. A little self denial early is paying off. Still looks like it did when it rolled off the manufacturing line.

You are....ummm....operating in a different plane of existence than I was when Dad gave me the advice. Or probably will be ever, honestly.

Don't get me wrong, outside of taking care of black paint, I love the car. Bought it for a bit below blue book value, crazy low miles and $10k of modifications into the car as well. I'd never find a deal like that again if I tried.

Eh, to each his own. I like having a decent vehicle. I do my best to keep it clean and take care of it (clean is....well, we will call it subjective in my line of work), but the fact is they wear out. Accordingly, I can't keep it forever, so finding "the deal of a lifetime" or whatever isn't really an objective. If I ever found the
perfect car I'd just be pissed when I wore it out. So I can't think of them like that.
But if you are specifically at value, you have to include maintenance in the value calculation. Naturally, black paint is going to cost more to maintain than other colors that would hide dust a little better.
I'm not casting stones, just telling you how I see things. If you're happy that's all that matters.
