Who said we need Mahomes to be Peyton Manning? Personally, I just want a QB who can put the team on his back consistently if necessary. I want a QB who can pick up everyone else's slack from time to time.
Instead, the Chiefs have been trying to win a championship with a guy who needs all the help in the world around him at the most important position. It's a stupid approach. When you need things to go nearly perfect in all three phases for the entirety of the playoffs, your odds are extremely thin to ever actually win a title.
Maybe Mahomes will be a superstar, and maybe he won't be. I just appreciate the effort to set your team up with a potentially much easier future path to a Super Bowl.
