Does anyone else feel that, if the White Walkers just walk around the Wall, it will be truly disappointing?

I mean, they only come during the winter and whenever they are around the temperature drops rapidly, causing the surrounding bodies of water to freeze.

Why in the hell was the wall built if they could just walk around it whenever they decided to invade!?
