You can argue it's a crap rule. I won't even dispute it. But it is the rule and I think pretty clearly they got it right here. I admit my bias, but the ball was full on the ground -- his hands weren't under it or anything -- and he didn't have control so no catch, therefore no TD.
I can understand the saltiness of pro-Steelers / anti-Pats folks though -- that is a pretty tough loss to take.

That was the correct ruling as far as what the NFL considers a catch. I think most will agree that the catch rules are a little silly, but that call was consistent with what has been considered a catch over the past few years.
