He didn’t have to? That is who Alex smith is. He doesn’t have the arm strength to make tight-window throws to wide receivers. He doesn’t have the ability to make anticipation throws, or throw a receiver open. No, since he was in SF, Alex smith relied 10-15 yard throws to tightends and occasional bombs to a ridiculously wide open receiver downfield. He’s a very, very, very limited quarterback.
