No, it did not, unless you think that a Force Ghost interacting in the corporeal world is bold or interesting or that a casino planet filled with arms dealers is bold and interesting or that Luke, Leia and Han's lives were filled with regret and sadness is bold and interesting.
This isn't the Star Wars trilogy that I and millions of others wanted to see.

Great! Just what everyone wanted! A Beat-For-Beat clone of the original film, a followup that trashed canon, killed off beloved characters without so much as a brief mention (um, Admiral Ackbar unceremoniously sucked into space!) and characters that have zero gravitas or likeability.
As I mentioned earlier, there's no way that in 30 years, people will be clamoring for the further adventures of Finn, Poe and Rey.
