I'm not sure why people have such difficulty understanding this concept.
The Chiefs had Peters on the block for 3 weeks and by all accounts, only the Rams and 49ers were serious about acquiring him via trade.
The 49ers made the most sense to me because they have $77 million in cap room and play in the Bay Area, Peters home. They also have a bevy of picks, so for the Rams deal to go through means that the 49ers didn't even want him that badly.
The NFL is a small world, people. Very few agents, very few players, very few coaches. Everyone knows everything.
The mere fact that 29 other teams had no interest in trading for a 25 year old Pro Bowl CB speaks volumes about Peters reputation.
