They weren’t going to cut him at that point. They made a decision to move on from him via trade his offseason at that point.
Then, he had the Jets meltdown, lost all of his trade value, and hey contemplated cutting him then.
If the Rams weren’t trading for him, he would have been released this offseason.
Again, the belief is that he is a cancer. At any cost, he wasn’t returning to this team.
