Peters is known for staring down the QB and reading the play as it develops, which is due to his knowledge of routes and his film study. You don't do that in press man coverage. You can't.
I'm not saying he can't succeed in that situation, but you're taking away one thing he's absolutely special at. Reading offenses and jumping routes. I think Wade Phillips is smarter than that.
