Trading for Earl Thomas doesn't hurt this team's future at all.
1) He's a FS. He could play another 4 years easy. Every bit as long as a draft pick.
2) There's a ton of money going to come off the books next year and after. His salary will be EASY to absorb, even if he's the highest-paid safety in the league.
3) So far, this regime's defensive drafts have demonstrated at least partially that they don't know how to fix this defense through the draft. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
There's no reason not to do this deal, not only for this year but for the next 2 or 3.
