Eventually he will come back, and based off how good the team is it'll be a couple weeks prior to the playoffs just to get him in the zone.

I believe this is the most plausible answer. However, at this point it's time to crap or get off the pot. If 3 months rest isn't enough, a year isn't going to be enough. Either get the surgery or find yourself buying a ticket to the games next year.
