It's just been that way forever. I've heard many ex-player talk about it. It's much more draining to play defense than it is to play offense. Only guys running fly routes tend to get worn out as much as defenders.

Sure it is - but my point is that I don't think it's any easier to defend the pass than it is to defend the run. I mean I guess a great running team that can just do a 13 play drive for 75 yards and score would tire a team out more than a great passing team that covers that 75 yards in 5 plays.
But those are sort of logical extremes. For most football teams, I can't see running the football to be an obviously easier way to tire out a defense than passing. And I've NEVER heard defenses routinely talk about how gassed they are by the end of the game like they're doing against this freakshow that Reid has put together...
