The thing is so many people who travel just do it by the seat of their pants and don’t do any planning. Mexico City is not the place to do that. I’ve heard the biggest scam is the unlicensed taxi drivers that can stick you up but if you read up on it and only take registered taxis or cabs arranged by your hotel it’s easily avoidable.
