Corners? Yeah.
Safeties? Nah. A lot of the times the safeties appeared to just vapor-lock.
Poor Nelson, OTOH, spent all night knowing exactly what he was supposed to be doing and simply being beat by more physically gifted WRs in Woods and Cooks. And if he tried to counter by being physical, the flag came out. If we'd have tried to give him more help, they'd have leaned on Gurley.
That's why that rush was so damn critical and why I'm so irritated with Speaks' no-show and the fact that K-Pass never saw the field. That rush HAD to get home in a reasonable amount of time and by the 4th they simply had nothing left.
You can't ask Nelson (or Scandrick) to stick with those guys for 3+ seconds in coverage - they're more physically gifted than he is and they know where they're going when he doesn't. And I'll be goddamned if Goff just refused to make a rushed throw. That was the other thing - when the pressure got there, Goff just took a sack or dumped it off rather than forcing it.
It just gets back to how hard it is to play defense against good offenses in this league. The D is at such a disadvantage if the O is executing. They needed Goff to make a mistake and he just never made one. So they were left with having to hit him early and after awhile they just lacked the stamina to keep blasting upfield at him.
