I'm 68 and about 3 years ago I started to get lower back pain, I had a cat-scan and they said I had a degenerative L1 - L5. My doctor sent me to a pain mgmt doctor who prescribed PT. I had been going to the gym 5 days a week, so the PT they gave me was a joke, I did so much more on my own I quit after 3 sessions.
About a year ago the pain got so bad I couldn't walk more than 5 minutes at the mall or a store without looking for a bench to sit. My doctor said I was a good candidate for fusion surgery, I said let me try a chiropractor.
I got a chiroprator that specialized in back pain treatment. He looked at my cat-scan and said, see how your L-1 through L-5 are so close together, the cartilage is almost gone. It was a 10 week program for $3,000 and we'll be working to pull those vertebrate apart. I started going M-W-F, after 3 weeks I noticed absolutely no improvement, so I dropped out. I asked the chiropractor if an inversion table might be of help, he said, absolutely Not.
I decided to see for myself. You can buy tables new for as little as $100 on eBay, but I figured I would get a name brand such a Teeter. It was right before Christmas and Dick's had a sale on a $450 Teeter for $250. So I picked it up and began using it for 5 to 10 minutes a day. I gradually increased the inversion from my head just below level to now it not quite totally inverted, but close.
By the end of January, about six weeks after I started my back pain was totally gone. It was the greatest thing I've ever seen. I would suggest to those who can't find help with PT or chiropractor, to give this a try. I have this one here. I see Dick's has it on sale again.
