Saw it in IMAX 3D with some rewards money from AMC. The big eyes were weird. Wished they would have went normal sized. It was distracting for a non-anime fanboy. State of the art CGI for sure. Very well done tech. You can see some Avatar/Cameron involvment in the movie. The story wasn't unique or plotted well. I think it needed more humanity. Go for the state of the art CGI or forget this one. |
Basically my thoughts. Her eyes didn't bother me after a few min. It was good to see her kind had the eyes as well explaining why she's different. The story was ok but the effects were cool and I enjoyed it. The very end def left it for a sequel ...but I dont know if it will make enough. I hope it does. It was definitely close to the source material. I'd give it a 7/10 with the effects pushing that up from a 6.
