From my weatherman friend Brad:
Heads up, Wichita and most of Kansas. The morning thunder is just the start of what will be an interesting 24 hours. A potentially historic (or unprecedented) low pressure area is expected to move out into the plains on Wed. As it moves into the plains it is expected to deepen rapidly. Something we in the weather field, called "bombo-genesis". Where the low "bombs out". This will lead to potentially damaging wind gusts of 50 to 65 mph across most of southern and eastern KS for Wed afternoon. Think low end hurricane strength winds. So please, prepare now, strap down things in the yard, or outside. Trampolines, trash cans, chairs. I would not be surprised to see power outages. Also abundant moisture will be pulled north, which may lead to heavy rainfall and possible flooding, due to lots of runoff because of partially frozen ground. Most areas may see over an inch of rain, with some areas across central KS, getting 1 to 2 inches of rain.
Front is moving through the southwest now. Rain all night and today here.
