This was my biggest complaint but for a different character - Jon.

Don't make Jon an indecisive beta resigned to his fate. That last meeting with Tyrion and even his return to the Wall was just mopey and frustrating. Make that meeting one where Jon reclaims his agency after spending a couple of seasons being talked into things he 'doesn't want'.

Have him say he did the right thing but recognizes the consequences and cannot stay in Kings Landing. Have him voluntary relinquish his right and head north. Rather than take the black, he voluntarily chooses to go north of the wall with Tormund.

It would've been a far more graceful end to the character and would've done nothing to interfere with other story arcs.

I just hate how Jon, who's been so driven by honor, wasn't allowed to write his own ending and make the honorable sacrifice by removing himself from consideration.
