Dont forget they let Conley go in FA too. They had a need for a 3rd receiver. And Hardman fills both the role of WR and a replacement gadget guy (DAT).

I agree. Watkins has a big number contract and a injury history. If you can get a rookie or even a 2nd year guy to fill that role, you can pay more to stars or maybe sign a FA. Conley never lived up to his promise and DAT could easily be replaced.
