He did have a great draft, but there's no question they were after a corner with their first pick. When one didn't fall to him, he took a guy who he likely felt had Tyreek Hill level upside.
At first, I thought it was because of the Tyreek Hill case, but now, I don't believe this to be the case. Think about what the Patriots defense did to the Chiefs in the 1st half by taking Hill away for the most part. If Hardman becomes a guy that defenses can't single-up, then their strategy of taking Hill away will fail.
