And Belichick is smart enough to know that had he just massacred Berry from the jump on every play, he'd have gotten yanked.

But BB just targeted him when he needed to. He rope-a-doped the Chiefs into not realizing just how washed up Berry was. And even THAT was enough to convince the Chiefs to cut him, IMO.

If Berry had played even average football in that game, I think we have a Lombardi in the case and I think Berry would still be a Chief. But he was so unbelievably bad that, once he gave them an out, they had no choice but to take it.
