Here's the strangest thing about Norman - there is so much hype about this dude and he was good for
one year.
In 2015 he was excellent. He hasn't been a truly good player any other season of his career. And he was 25 as a rookie so he's coming into his age 32 season.
The dirty little secret about Norman is that his 'bad season' last year wasn't all that much worse than any other year of his career apart from that one outlier season in 2015. He was almost exactly the same player in '18 that he was in '14, '16 and '17. He was so bad in '12 and '13 he barely even played.
And he'll be a virtually identical player this year. The player you get next season won't be any better than Claiborne, IMO.
He just isn't a very good football player. He's a very average football player who had a career year at the right time, got himself paid and then went back to being an extremely average football player.
The Josh Norman fascination is bizarre and I'm betting that he ends up getting cut and signing for a fraction of what people are saying the Chiefs should take on. I was thinking around $5 million but man, I don't think he's any better than Breeland and isn't Breeland's max around $3 million if all incentives are reached? That's Claiborne's max as well. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut and ends up taking a $3 million deal or so.
Dude's old and he was never great to begin with. That is a flash over substance move and there's no reason to make it at all. Norman may not make this team better at all.
