Beyond that, the issue is just that "team-friendly" deals are more in the range of 10% than 50%, so it's not as much of an impact as people would like it to be. If Pat had an offer on the table for $40m from another team, I can buy that he'd take $35m to stay with the Chiefs, but there's no way in hell he's taking $20m or whatever.

What I’d like to see is the old bag of cash trick. Plus get him in on a producing well. For like a grand or something reeruned.
And then make press releases about how big of a deal it is that he took a discount. Get him positive PR, cash money and an oil well or 30.
