Why doesn't Indiana get more hell for trading that pick to Portland?

Everyone blasts Portland but Indiana sent them that pick for for a single season of Tom Owens?

I mean I guess it's because they traded that pick like 3 years before Jordan was drafted (Owens was out of the league before that pick got used, IIRC), but still - lordy. What an awful, awful decision.
