The problem wasn't that the Chiefs played poorly at home - they didn't. They played pretty well by and large. But homefield advantage is a relative thing and the Chiefs actually played substantially better on the road.
So if you're asking what advantage the Chiefs gained by playing in Arrowhead, there really was none and in fact when the study was done, they had played worse at home than they had on the road for a period of several years.
Arrowhead's a great atmosphere, no doubt. But historically speaking the Chiefs play well at home when they play well period. Being in Arrowhead hasn't given them a real advantage on the scoreboard beyond their true talent level.

It might be interesting to see how much impact crowd noise really does have on the visiting offensive line. If we have games with no crowds this year that could be a great comparison to previous seasons too.
I know the volume level at Arrowhead sure used to get to Elway.
